Katie Vo is an undergraduate student researcher at the University of California, Irvine majoring in Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in civic and community engagement.

Vo’s past research assessed environmental injustices in California’s Central Valley which utilized an analytic case study framework to examine fast, slow, and combo disasters. As one component of the UCI EcoGovLab’s Environmental Injustice: Building a Global Record project, her current research examines how climate change exacerbates pre-existing inequalities in California’s Central Valley and perpetuates the marginalization of agricultural communities.  She is also on the Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program team, developing 11th and 12th grade curriculum for the state of California.

Beyond the research lab, Vo participates in a statewide service program started by California Volunteers and the Office of the Governor, serving at a local organization to promote food security as UC Irvine College Corps Fellow. She is also a varsity athlete on the UC Irvine Women’s Rowing Team.
