Sophia Tamashiro is a Biological Science Undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine.  She has a specific interest in education, focusing on curriculum planning with EcoGov Lab in accordance with environmental justice for marginalized communities.

In January 2024, Sophia worked with “Make Us Visible” to create a curriculum surrounding AAPI stories, bringing more diverse representation into public schools. Her work entailed a dedication of over 10 hours to research and drafting curriculum, creating illustrations of an associated children’s book, and participating in consultation meetings to enhance this curriculum.
